Rams Hill Community Connection™
July 23, 2004
Dear Home
and Property owners at Rams Hill,
I know that
many of you have been wondering what is going on regarding the sale of Rams
Hill Country Club to a new owner. As promised I have been waiting to
write to you until I had some news to report.
Here is what
has transpired thus far:
Following
the most recent bidding process for Rams Hill, the first bidder failed to
meet required obligations to close the deal.
Western
United Life Assurance Company, the current owners of Rams Hill Country Club,
has chosen to put the Country Club back out to a new bidding process rather
than accept one of the other two bidders that had come forward during
the first bidding process.
I received a
phone call yesterday from Mr. Michael Brixey, Assistant Secretary
Property Sales (WULA)
in reply to a call I made to WULA earlier in the day.
According to Mr. Brixey
the decision to go to a new bidding process was made because "several"
other potential bidders had expressed disappointment they had not
participated in the first bidding process. WULA, according to Michael
Brixey, is acting in the best interests of their stockholders.
Mr Brixey
further noted that there are currently 3 proposals and another 2 that are
expected to come forward in the new bidding process.
So again we
must wait and see. Mr Brixey said that it should be another 45 - 60
days until a close of escrow following this new bidding process.
I want to
extend thanks to Mr Richard Shaw, Executive Director of the Borrego Springs
Chamber of Commerce, for his attempts to communicate to WULA the importance
of handing over Rams Hill Country Club to a viable and committed new owner.
In a
previous mailing you received contact information for WULA and the State of
Washington Insurance Dept.
The history of Rams Hill is a fascinating and colorful one. I am
currently working on compiling a history for the homeowners at Rams Hill.
I am in the process of scanning old Rams Hill newsletters, brochures etc
which will be made available on the password protected website.
As noted in the July edition of the Borrego Springs Chamber newsletter, the
Rams Hill Golf Club is now taking reservations for girls and boys 12-18
years old for the Pacific Desert Junior Golf Tournament (date TBA).
For more information and/or to register call 760-767-5000 ext 1.
Kerin
Shugart, RHCA, has done a great job in making sure that our neighborhoods
look great. Let her know that you appreciate her efforts in our
behalf.
That's it
for now.
Very
Sincerely,
Pat McArron
