Henry "Hank" G Laun 1931 - 2009

Laun, Henry "Hank" G 77 11/09/1931 to 08/04/2009

Hank couldn't have written a better script to go out with a bang if he had tried.  His final day was spent with his family and friends enjoying boat races, the Blue Angels and cannonballs in the lake.  That night he had a heart attack and a massive brain hemorrhage and passed away surrounded by his family.  Hank was born in Wausaukee, WI and graduated from the University of Wisconsin.  He served two years in the US Army.  After receiving his master's degree from Harvard, Hank joined the consulting division of Arthur Anderson & Co. (now Accenture) where he worked until retirement in 1989, after 31 years.  Hank was an avid golfer, fledgling artist, writer and poet.  He served on the boards of the Portland Art Museum, Oregon Episcopal School and Whitman College.  Henry also served on the pastoral council at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church.  Hank is survived by his wife of 55 years, Bonnie Laun, whom he loved dearly.  He also leaves three sisters, Margaret, Jeanie and Ruthie; four children, Kathryn (Portland); Beth Ursin (Portland); Duane (Seattle) and Dan (Tigard); and soon-to-be six wonderful grandchildren.  One final toast for you "To the roaring motors of the sky and the last man to die." - HGL.  A vigil will be held at 6 pm Monday, Aug 10, 2009 in Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake Oswego.  A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am Tuesday, Aug 11.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be directed to the Portland Art Museum.
