RAMS
HILL RESORT/GOLF COURSE
Client:
DiGiorgio Corporation
Van Dyke, LLP served as project landscape architect
in collaboration with Golf Course Architect Ted Robinson to develop
one of San Diego's finest golf course resorts. The design philosophy
stressed the preservation and experience of the desert environment.
Sensitive grading and earth forms were integrated into the project's
residential units, as well as the adjacent golf course. Use of native
and indigenous plant species were emphasized to give a natural
appearance.
The entrance off Yaqui Pass Road features mature Date Palms, water
elements, rock walls and colorful trees, shrubs and groundcover. The
long entry drive is flanked by clusters of Date Palms, as well as
native shrub masses and groundcover, blending well into the adjacent
native desert landscape.
The golf course clubhouse and parking area feature specimen shade
trees and flowering plant material that transitions to the golf course
tees and greens. Several water features are visible from the clubhouse
restaurant and terrace, with impressive panoramic views to the east.
