The Lambda Archives Library contains published books, unpublished reports, theses, and other monographic materials with lesbian/gay content in many subject areas (art, biographies, fiction, history, homophobia, sociology, etc.), and books with some homosexual content written by lesbian/gay authors. The Collection is arranged by author except for the Biography section which is arranged by subject.
Organization of the Collection
These books are available for on-site use only. They are not available for loan. Call us at (619) 260-1522 to schedule a time to use the books in our collection.
The LGBT Center does have a circulating book collection. Contact them for access hours and loan information.
The Archives' pulp fiction collection consists of sexually explicit paperback books published as escapist reading for adults. The books have obvious titles such as Bad Boys and Crotch Bait and cover art that is sexually suggestive. Currently we have about 300 titles.
Many of these books were published in San Diego or the nearby community of Santee. None of the books has an ISBN number. The quality of the paper and the length of the stories show that these books were intended to be inexpensive, quick reads.
